History of Ravenscroft
Ravenscroft Family Health Center, PA was established in 1992 by Dr. Bruce Kelly and Dr. Christina Mcquiston. The practice was founded in order to create an outpatient setting that focused on the individual and incorporated holistic care that treated the mind, body, and spirit.
The practice took its name from the location of the original office on Ravenscroft Street in downtown Asheville. In 1995, Dr. Jeffrey Tait joined the growing practice as Dr. Mcquiston left. Three years later, we moved to our current location on Oakland Road but kept the original name, Ravenscroft Family Health Center. Shortly afterward, Dr.’s Kelly and Tait were joined by Dr. Sallie Gallaher and Dr. Joan East.
In 2001, Dr. East moved to Madison county, making way for Dr. Michael Weizman. The following year Dr. Jodi Schwab replaced Dr. Sallie Gallaher. Dr. Elizabeth Twardon joined the group in 2005, replacing Dr. Kelly who had moved on to become the medical director of the Black Mountain Center. In 2009, Ravenscroft welcomed our most recent physician, Dr. Meredith Polansky.
To this day, the doctors and staff at Ravenscroft continue to fulfill the original mission of the practice: “providing compassionate and individualized care to our patients and their families within the context of an open minded family practice that values collaboration, respect and excellence”.
